The new packs a lot into a small package. This thin nettop is perfect for those in search of a small PC that will fit almost anywhere. You can lay it flat or stand it vertical with an included mounting stand. Not unlike other nettops today the IdeaCentre reduces your energy consumption while providing a platform perfect for basic computing tasks. However, some reviews do show that the IdeaCentre does pack a big enough punch for extreme multitasking.

Operating System Comes Standard

The 500 GB hard drive comes standard with a Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. This is a bit different than many models that have been released lately. In fact, most companies are offering bare bones nettops for well over $400. However, for only $350 the Lenovo IdeaCentre includes your operating system.

Sacrifice for Size

In order to achieve the minimal size, Lenovo had to eliminate the card reader and optical drive. However, the nettop is complete with several ports for attaching external drives and peripheral devices. With built in wifi, four total 2.0 USB ports, an SPDIF optical port, VGA out, headphone and mic jacks, and HDMI out you are sure to have everything you need. As stated before the IdeaCentre also comes with a stand; however, there is also a bracket to attach the nettop to the back of a computer monitor.

IdeaCentre Pros and Cons

The IdeaCenter also includes a USB keyboard and mouse standard with every purchase. In addition, the nettop performs excellently when playing 1080p files. However, when tested by digitaltrends.com the IdeaCentre had problems keeping up when downloading files and running multiple programs. A simple music software download took almost five minutes. Luckily the computer is free of cumbersome software when first started up. Lenovo allows you to choose which programs are best rather than eating up your memory in advance.

Conclusion
If you are in search of a streamlined design, lower energy consumption, and an affordable nettop price, Lenovo’s IdeaCentre may be the perfect choice. However, if you plan to download files regularly or work with multiple programs all at the same time, you may need a faster processing machine.
