Acer was the first company to introduce Nettop PC that was fitted with an Intel Atom processor. However since the introduction of the Acer Aspire Revo 330 they have made further improvements what was already a great little machine.

The new Acer Aspire Revo 330 to come on to the market now is powered by a dual core Intel Atom 330 rather than the original single core Intel Atom 230 processor. So this has helped to enhance the machines performance and as a result is capable of carrying out more intensive CPU applications. Plus you will find that compared to the older model with the single core processor installed this new model runs at considerably faster speeds.

Although this improvement has been made the new version looks very similar to the original but can be laid flat on your desk instead of standing up on its end. Plus it also has a VESA standard mount so if space really is an issue in your home it provides you with the opportunity to mount yours behind your LCD monitor. Yet for all this it still measures just 7.1 inches by 7.1 inches by 1.2 inches as well as being one of the lightest Nettop machines on the market as well.

The other added addition to this machine that many users will find helpful is the increased memory capabilities. Originally the Acer Aspire Revo 330 only came with 2GB of RAM whereas the up to date version now has 4GB of RAM so it really does work considerably better and faster.

Again with the original version each of the new models has a 160GB hard drive, a VGA display port, as well as the wireless LAN 802.11n module, the high bandwidth eSATA port that is solely for the hard drive and of course 6 USB ports. Plus to further enhance its performance the newer model comes with an HDMI video port. So you will discover that watching videos online won’t be so troublesome as they will run a lot more smoothly.

It is because of these improvements to this particular Nettop that now means that one is not limited as to which operating system one has installed. Yes you can still stick with Windows Vista or Windows XP but why not wait another 3 days and go for those models where Windows 7 Home Premium can be installed as the operating system.

As you will find this new operating system will further enhance the performance and what the Acer Aspire Revo 330 is capable of doing. Plus as you will find like so many others who have an evaluation copy of Windows 7 on their PC or laptop it is worth waiting until this OS is officially launched.

For some years now Zotac a Hong Kong based computer peripheries company has been producing high quality graphics cards for PC’s.  However they have recently announced that they are entering the Nettop PC market with their own machine known as the Zotac MAG.

The company have decided to introduce two versions of this machine both of which measure just 186mm x 189mm x 38mm in size.  Which not only being small and lightweight compared with traditional PC’s they use considerably less power.

Zotac MAG

Zotac MAG

When it comes to the Zotac MAG models one version is going to be powered by a single core Atom 230 processor, whilst the other and more expensive model will be powered by a dual core Intel Atom 330.  Yet both will be provided with the same quality NVIDIA ION graphics card which has been the main stay of Zotac’s production for many years now.

Each of the models available known as the Zotac MAG HD-N S01 and HD-ND01 are fitted with 2GB of RAM along with a 160GB hard drive.  Plus they both come with 4 in 1 card readers along with 802.11n WiFi that allows you to make faster network transfers along with Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI ports which are fully HD 1080p compatible.  Plus they are also fitted with an optical S/PDIF output and 6 2.0 USB ports.

You need to be aware that each system when shipped does not come with an operating system preloaded on to them.  So this means it is up to you as to which OS you do have installed.  When it comes to the operating systems one has the option to choose between Windows XP, Vista or Windows & along with Linux.  If I was you I would opt for the Windows 7 operating system as I have been using a trial version for several weeks now and find it very user friendly.

So being able to decide just which operating system is installed on to theirs makes this the perfect home network PC.  Certainly if you are looking for a small compact PC for your child that they can use to carry out their studies on and surf the net then this little one is perfect.

This system like many other Nettops on the market today has been designed for use anywhere in your home and perfect for all your computer needs.  Plus this is a system that although you can stand it on your desk comes with VESA mounting holes so it can be attached to the back of a monitor or on to its own stands, therefore creating further workspace on your desk at home.    So if space is an issue then the Zotac Mag is a Nettop PC worth considering.

Also just as with all other types of Nettop PC’s the Zotac MAG is a model that you can take anywhere with you.  So being able to keep in touch whilst away on holiday or business trips has proven a lot easier.  Due to their size and weight they take up very little luggage space and you can easily find an internet cafe where they allow you to connect yours to one of their monitors or keyboards.  So you know at all times that when surfing online you are secure.

For some considerable time now Dell has been the leading vendor in the world of personal computer systems. However, it is only recently that they have decided to introduce their own version of the Nettop PC based on Inspiron models. Their new PC system that will be launched is the Dell Zino HD.

Certainly for those who are looking for a reliable compact PC that allows them to carry out basic functions on then this is a suitable choice. Not only is it small as with all other forms of Nettop PC’s but is very energy efficient as well.

Dell Zino HD Inspiron 400When released there will be two versions of this particular PC available to users one that contains the Inspiron 300 and the other with the Inspiron 400 inside. With the first lower grade model the internal configuration will be run using the Intel Atom processor whereas the 400 version will come with either Athlon or Athlon X2 processors installed.

The other differences between each model are quite considerable. With the Inspiron 300 version this will only have 1GB of memory, rather than up to 8GB of DDR2 memory in the 400 model. However each one will also have a 4 in 1 memory card slot along with a 3.5” SATA HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and a super multi optical drive. Another feature to be found in the 400 version is that this particular Nettop PC will be fitted with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics chip. So the performance should be far better than in the 300 which is using an Intel integrated graphics chip instead.

When it comes to the Dell Zino HD Inspiron 400 model there are other features which can be included in this package. You can if you want have a Blu Ray drive installed if you wish along with the super multi drive. But these models are also provided with the mini PCIe WLAN b/g or b/g/n connection. Plus unlike the 300 Inspiron versions this model comes with HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 ESATA ports and VGA outputs. So overall it may cost more than the 300 Inspiron versions but is far more versatile and is the perfect one for use as part of a home theatre system.

Yet when it comes down to it both of these systems are going to cost slightly more than other Nettop PC’s available at present. But you know with the Dell Zino HD you are getting a system that is not only reliable but very robust and certainly very easy to use. Plus as this system is very energy efficient will use considerably less power than the PC you are currently using.
