The original Acer Aspire Revo with Atom 330 Nettop has proven very popular and because of when the new version is released this is likely to prove just as popular. The new version of the Acer Aspire Revo has an Atom 330 dual core processor installed rather than a single core Atom 230.
Along with a much more powerful processor the new version of this Nettop which is set to be priced at around 349 Euros ($497) also comes with 4GB of DDR2 memory. It also comes with 320GB of storage on its hard drive. Also because the specifications of the processor and hard drive are considerably better than its predecessor this version is more suited to running Windows Vista Home Premium. But if you wait a few more weeks then getting Windows 7 installed will prove even more effective.
The major problem faced with the original version of the Acer Aspire Revo was in that the processor installed was unable to keep up with what the NVIDIA Ion graphics card could provide. So although the original version was great for using to play games on and transcoding videos playing back HD videos on YouTube proved a problem. But hopefully this will not be an issue when it comes to the new model.
As with the original version the size of the unit is what makes people look at purchasing these rather than a traditional desk top PC. The new version measures just 7.1 x 7.1 x 1.2 inches and sits comfortably on any computer desk next to a good quality monitor.
Although a great many people will still use this beautiful little machine to surf the web or to carry out other basic computer functions like typing of reports. It is designed with the various components to carry out so much more. It allows you to share digital photos with others along with playing some really exciting games on it. So in fact it allows you to perform what you would normally expect to carry out on a traditional full size system.
As mentioned this new version of the Acer Aspire Revo with 330 Atom Nettop is expected to appear for sale to the public in the next few weeks and is going to be something that a great deal of teenagers may clamour for this Christmas. So to avoid disappointment it is worth considering purchasing yours as soon as it becomes available. Since the appearance of the first Nettop machine the number of different makes and models available has substantially increased. One model that is worth considering purchasing is the Asrock Ion 330 Nettop.
This particular one although designed by Asrock is in fact built by Pegatron and just like a great many of the other high end Nettop systems on the market it comes with some great features. It not only comes with the NVIDIA Ion graphics technology but is one of the very few on the market that is fitted with the Intel Atom 330 dual core processor.
On each core of its processor it sports hyper threading so this allows the CPU to process four threads for you simultaneously, meaning it works at far greater speeds than other models. Although it only comes with 2GB of 800MHz of DDR2 memory inside this is more than sufficient for one’s needs. In fact this machine is more than capable of allowing you to run Full HD video clips on it without them stuttering , due in part to the Nettops GPU hardware that has a feature allowing the decoding of video to be accelerated.
So not only is this machine superb for carrying out general tasks on including surfing the web the power of the system makes it a superb gaming machine also. In fact you may well be surprised that although compact in relation to traditional desktop gaming PC’s just how much it is capable of doing.
When it comes to the Asrock Ion 330 Nettop there are some differences between this and others available. Yes it does weigh around the same as other computers in this class but there is no warranty void stick on the case. So being able to open it up and improve its abilities is something that need not concern you. However, because of the hardware installed you may find that it does perfectly well what is required of it.
One disadvantage to be had from using this Nettop over others in the market especially the Acer Aspire Revo is that all 6 USB ports that is has are situated at the back. So actually connecting some things to it may prove a problem. However, if they had chosen to place a couple of USB ports at the front then this would have resolved such issues. But you can always by a good quality USB extension cable or stand to allow you to have free access to the equipment that you wish to connect to yours.
As with all the Nettops on the market today because of its size being only 19.5 x 7 x 18.6 cm this is a machine that can be moved easily around if the need arises. So putting it in your suitcase, briefcase or holdall isn’t going to be a problem and certainly won’t cause an issue when included in weight allowance on a flight as it comes in at just 1.7kg.
Today more and more of us are looking for ways to improve our carbon footprint so ensuring that we take care of the planet we live on better. One way of doing this is through purchasing an Asus EeeBox Nettop PC. This like other mini desktop PC needs only around 20 watts of power to actually run them. So on average you can expect to reduce your carbon footprint by 90% when you use one of these instead of a standard desktop PC.
The EeeBox from Asus has been produced because of the popularity of the original Asus EeePC Notebook that this company produced. Just as with the notebook this Asus Nettop comes with a 1.6GHz N270 Intel Atom Processor along with 1GB of RAM and an 80GB 2.5” hard drive. Plus this Nettop also comes with an Intel GMA 950 graphics card with shared video memory installed.
This is the perfect machine where space is limited and you need something that allows you to quickly and easily surf the net and for basic word processing tasks. However, it does not have the graphics capacity to allow it to be suitable for gaming on.
Due to the size of this machine measuring only 8.5” by 7” by 1” you have the opportunity to easily move it from one room to another. In fact when you put this up against a piece of A4 paper the Asus EeeBox is quite a bit smaller. Also because of its size and weight most of the LCD monitors that you can purchase to use along allow you the facility to mount it on the back.
As well as being very small and lightweight another feature that makes these the perfect home PC’s is that they don’t create as much noise. They not only produce less noise than a standard stand alone PC but also than many notebooks. The reason for this is that inside this machine and other Nettops is installed the latest Intel Atom processor.
